Abstract
This chapter describes some of the psychological issues that may affect people living with skin conditions, before going on to describe and review psychological self‐help interventions. It introduces self‐help within a stepped‐care model and reviews the available evidence for a number of interventions, including anxiety management and mindfulness‐based stress reduction. The chapter aims to provide practical advice to those working in both primary care services and specialist dermatology clinics regarding self‐help interventions for patients. The chapter will also be of interest to patients and support groups in providing guidance aimed at increasing coping skills.
