Abstract

In this paper we describe the challenges presented when describing and composing biodiversity informatics resources. We present a novel metadata framework as a tool to capture information about these resources and their interrelationships, explaining how this framework is designed to support workflow composition. We show how our approach can help in guiding users toward useful resources, and discuss the impact that this framework could have on real composition problems. Eventually this framework will support user enhancement of the resource metadata and a rating system for user feedback on the usefulness of suggestions made by the system.
