Abstract
This chapter contrasts compensation for industrial injuries under the welfare state with suing for damages in tort. It is very critical of the inefficiencies and injustices of the tort system. It also questions whether the preference given by the welfare state to the industrially injured can be justified. It does this in answering the question whether the compensation system needs to be changed to meet the challenges posed by the 'Fourth Industrial Revolution.'
