Abstract
MQ Mental Health Research is synonymous with impactful research that actually makes a difference to people’s lives. We therefore enthusiastically welcome the sector’s shared goals for mental health research that collectively agree a direction of travel for mental health research (Wykes et al., 2021). Having clarity on key targets is an invaluable step to translating research into tangible practical impact, as has been seen in other disease areas such as cystic fibrosis (Trivedi, 2020). MQ’s vision is to create a world where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated and one day preventable. To that end, we have spent much of the last eight years establishing key priorities for research attention that stand to bring maximum benefit to the many people affected directly and indirectly by mental ill-health. The four goals arising from this consultation process resonate with work MQ has previously funded, and will fund through our 2021–2025 Strategic Framework - A Brighter Future.
