Abstract
In the following sections the reader will be introduced to the chemistry of perfluoro-organoboranes, both in regards to their properties and to the main synthetic methods developed in the last 15 years. This chapter will focus on their applications in the most diverse fields of chemistry ranging from Frustrated Lewis Pairs and the activation of small molecules such as dihydrogen, to the synthesis of polymers. The main focus will be on the application of these boron compounds in modern organic chemistry from both catalytic and stoichiometric roles.
