Abstract

The article examines modern theoretical approaches to studying word formation, understanding its mechanisms helps to develop a holistic conception of the structure of a language. One of the effective scientific paradigms developed with a view to investigate morphology (both word formation and word transformation) is a formal-morphological. On the basis of the findings of a formal-morphological analysis of a corpus of Persian vocabulary the author formulates some linguo-statistical and morphological regularities of Persian word formation.
