Abstract
The Global Person Generated Index--Thai Version (Martin, et al., 2010) is an individualized assessment of global quality of life (QoL). The measure has 3 steps. In step 1, respondents are asked to nominate 3 to 5 areas of their life they feel are important to their QoL. Responses are summarized into an area name (with guidance and agreement from the respondent) and recorded. In step 2, respondents score each area in relation to their ideals, derived from the gap hypothesis (Calman 1984) of QoL. Respondents rate each area on a scale from 0 to 6, where 6 is "Exactly as you would like to be" and 0 is "The worst you could imagine." In step 3, respondents indicate the relative importance of each area by distributing 10 points across different areas, with more points indicating higher perceived importance. The Global Person Generated Index--Thai Version was translated from the English-language Global Person Generated Index (GPGI; Camfield & Ruta, 2007). Based on a sample of people (aged 14– 73 years) in Northeast Thailand, the Global Person Generated Index--Thai Version demonstrated test-retest reliability and content validity.
