Abstract

This chapter describes and analyzes the potential of two-handed ethnography as a method for performance anthropology. It draws on one specific research project on diasporic capoeira in the UK. It then explores the place of two-handed ethnography in anthropology, and the performative aspects of two-handed ethnography as a practice. Then the analysis broadens out to focus briefly on research on other combat sports and martial arts, which are performative and embodied activities.
