Abstract
My example of co-production includes a partnership with an adult living with cerebral palsy, parents and their children and young people with complex disabilities. The construct being explored was their well-being and a new scale was piloted. The context where this research took place was a special school. The data was generated from observations of the children using the Innowalk, a robotic device, which provides a standing and walking motion for non-ambulant children. Additionally, some interviews were carried out and they kept a diary. This data has been analysed and now being produced into an illustrated storybook: “My adventures in the Innowalk”. This is aimed as an accessible research output for the participants to tell their stories about their well-being experiences in the Innowalk. The domains of the well-being scale include comfort, calmness, creativity, energy, engagement and joy. What I aim to demonstrate is the creative methods used to gain this data, by seeking to promote the experiences of children who are usually excluded from research. This is because their disabilities are complex, particularly if they are unable to speak. I hope to have a copy of the booklet printed by the time of the conference.
