Abstract
This chapter considers language use in relation to dementia. The chapter is grounded on the assumption that our understanding of dementia plays a crucial role in guiding our interactions with, and care support for, people living with a dementia. The concept of personhood is adopted as guiding axis and it is explored from four main angles: in dementia care, in popular representations of dementia, in communication, and in sense of self.
