Abstract

Audiovisual Nostalgia: Senses and Anchors is an invitation to explore how film, television, and music recreate the past to stir emotions in the present or capitalize on our memories. From the musical themes in biographical series to global phenomena like Stranger Things, this book shows how nostalgia has become a key tool in contemporary pop culture. With examples that include global icons, local heroes, and even photography apps, the authors offer a close and critical look at how images from the past remain alive on our screens, generating connections, memories, hyperlinks, transactions, and even new forms of identity. Far from being just a memory, nostalgia here is revealed as a creative, emotional, commercial, and collective strategy. It's a way of looking at yesterday to better understand who we are today, recognize the impact of consumerism, and establish a connection with our memories of the past.
