Abstract
Place, time, memory, settlement, social relationships and dealing with the dead – important and recurrent themes in the Early Neolithic – are all evoked in the long cairn at Hazleton North in Gloucestershire. Fully excavated to a very high standard (Saville 1990), and the focus of important subsequent analyses, the site gives extensive insights into life and death in this period.
