Abstract

This study presents a conceptual framework that integrates Digital Twins (DTs) and Blockchain (BC) technology for enhanced asset management in the construction industry, mainly focusing on permit certification. The proposed framework effectively addresses critical challenges such as data security and transparency by utilising DTs to create accurate digital representations of physical assets and employing BC to ensure secure and transparent data management. The framework also integrates Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) to enable effective knowledge sharing of the permit certification. This research not only highlights the benefits and challenges of the proposed integration but also points to the exciting potential for future research on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) could further revolutionise and optimise these integrated systems.
