Abstract

This roundtable, organised by the MLANG Transition Team, led by Theresa Federici, brought together educators from secondary schools and sixth form colleges to explore the challenges and opportunities learners face when transitioning to higher education. Chaired by Nazaret Perez-Nieto, Academic Director of Routes into Languages Cymru, the session facilitated a dynamic and collaborative discussion on strategies to better support students during this critical phase. Participants shared insights into current practices including outreach initiatives, curriculum alignment, and student mentoring schemes. The conversation highlighted the importance of early engagement, inclusive support mechanisms, and clear communication between secondary and higher education institutions. The roundtable concluded with shared commitments to strengthening partnerships and creating more coherent pathways for student success.
