Abstract
In this talk, I reflect on some of my engagements with creative research methods, thinking through aspects of design, data generation and dissemination. There is attention to what went well, what needed to be re-thought and the practicalities, ethics and opportunities of working creatively. In sharing my journey with creative approaches, I hope to communicate the learning process that I have encountered and to encourage an openness to developing our research practices. Creative methods can help us to generate insights that are informed by the communities that we work with, enable more reflection in the process of data analysis, and ensure that the key findings can be shared in ways that engage wider publics and engender change. However, it is important that the methods we select align with the research questions that we want to explore, and the preferences and particularities of the people that we work alongside.
