Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) affected around 595 million people in 2020 [1]. It causes chronic pain and limits independence. The sit-to-stand (STS) task, essential for daily activities, is commonly used to assess functional ability in people with KOA. Most research emphasises sagittal plane movement, leaving the coronal and transverse planes underexplored. Research shows individuals with KOA tend to offload the affected leg during STS [2], leading to asymmetry and compensation. A comprehensive biomechanical analysis is needed to understand movement patterns and support personalised and effective rehabilitation strategies.
