Abstract

Purpose: The purpose if this study was to 1) identify and analyse the perceived barriers of using tSCS from the perspective of carers and 2) to identify and analyse the perceived benefits of using tSCS from the perspective of carers. The overall aim was to understand the perspective of carer givers directly involved in applying TSCS with children and young people with spina bifida. Methods: A qualitative interpretive design was used to ensure rich data on caregivers experiences was collected through a single online focus group. X participants were recruited through purposive sampling via a gatekeeper organisation. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to interpret the data and generate themes for discussion. Impact: This is the first known study exploring the perceived barriers and benefits of TSCS in children and young people through the lived experience of care givers. Understanding the viewpoints of carers is essential to ensuring physiotherapy practice remains holistic and patient and family centered.
