Abstract
This special issue addresses the reciprocal dynamics between the poetics and politics of gender, mobility, and migration as negotiated in literature. We are interested in how these constellations resonate across different geographical contexts in Global Anglophone studies and, in this introduction, we indicate what insights we can develop by looking into the triad of gender, mobility, and migration by providing a theoretical framework, deploying this triad as a reading methodology. The contributions to this special issue engage with literature in which there is an interface between gender and mobility or migration in our hyper-connected yet conflict-ridden world. They are attentive to how gender takes centre stage in their examination and analysis of narratives of mobility and migration in the present. Primarily, this issue focuses on the following topics: identities and histories on the move; intergenerational connections and conflicts, transcultural and transnational transactions, life in diaspora or the exilic condition, and cultures of migration.
