Abstract
This image highlights how the same building can feel like two entirely different worlds. On the right, a typical user navigates the space with ease. On the left, the same environment becomes overwhelming for a person with a learning disability, distorted by harsh lights, noise, confusing information, complicated wayfinding and social stress. This visual captures the core of my PhD: co-designing with people with a learning disability to understand how they experience buildings, and how it can be reimagined through their eyes. The illustration is based on real feedback from my participants. By blending sketching with photography, the split format challenges assumptions of neutrality in design. Inclusion is not just a checklist; it is a shift in perspective. This image asks: Who is architecture working for? And who is it leaving out?
