Abstract
Advancements in retail infrastructure and supply chain due to globalization, migration and consumer acceptance and engagement of new technologies have significantly transformed the retailing landscape around the world. Substantial subcultures exist across Europe, USA and Australia triggering consumer acculturation which involves culture change processes and outcomes. This chapter provides an overview of retailing in the context of development of a global consumer market highlighting opportunities but also challenges to retailers in handling cultural diversity. In doing so, the chapter provides insights into consumer acculturation experiences of culturally diverse consumers and implications for retailing in multicultural retail marketplace.
