Abstract
Language data is ubiquitous within and around media products, making media discourse a popular area of study for corpus linguists. This article highlights the main approaches such studies take, encompassing both interactional and ideational perspectives on discourse. Challenges and opportunities within the field are presented, illustrated with selected examples of research in the area.
