Abstract

This chapter discusses the emotional labour and challenges faced by nurses in the Children's Emergency Department (CED). It highlights the demanding nature of the environment, where nurses must manage critical medical conditions and traumatic injuries while balancing their emotional responses and professional responsibilities. The chapter outlines the systemic pressures that exacerbate emotional labour, including overcrowding and patient flow issues, which can lead to increased morbidity and mortality risks for patients. The narrative emphasises the importance of understanding these dynamics to improve nurse well-being and patient care.
