Abstract

Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) are widely used in the development of large-format cameras in the millimetre/far-infrared range. Due to minor non-uniformities inherent in their manufacturing, there are uncontrolled variations in the detectors' resonance frequencies, leading to overlaps or interactions between two or more resonators. Modifying the resonance frequencies of one or more resonators by controlled changes in their capacitance can correct these collisions. This work presents the development and performance of a cryogenic LED scanner for mapping detectors. We show the latest results from mapping large KID arrays of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) detectors (>400), characterising their resonator properties, including quality factors and dispersion of resonance frequencies. Having the resonator collisions located, we lithographically trim their capacitors, decoupling the resonances and improving array yield.
