Abstract

We give an abstract characterization of the fixed point subalgebra of the irrational rotation algebra under the flip U → U−1, V → V−1, where U, V are the canonical unitaries generating the irrational rotation algebra. We also describe some basic properties of the fixed point subalgebra.
