Abstract
During 2003 the LIGO observatories completed their second data-taking run in search of gravitational waves. One class of signals sought is unmodeled gravitational-wave transients (``bursts'') of sub-second duration, such as might be produced by core-collapse supernovae or by the merger or ringdown of black holes. The methodology and results of the analysis for gravitational-wave bursts are presented, with emphasis on the techniques used to identify bursts and to estimate the sensitivity to astrophysical signals. Plans for future analyses are also outlined.
