Abstract

A pharmacy practice research paper presented at the British Pharmaceutical Conference, Cardiff, 13-15 Sep 1999. The aim of this research was to compare knowledge of ADRs and the CSM spontaneous reporting scheme of trained and untrained community pharmacists in Wales and pharmacists in England who are unable to report. It appears that training is effective in improving knowledge of ADRs. However, further training on the identification of ADRs, particularly serious reactions, is required for pharmacists to optimise their role.
