Abstract
This paper recognises that many European Civil Engineering faculties have observed significant changes in the undergraduate student body in the last 5-10 years that are not simply due to changing fashion or times. Such changes are identified in this paper with an evolution from a traditional modernist outlook to postmodernism. While the essence of postmodernism is briefly clarified, the main concern of this paper is in identifying how the postmodern student is intrinsically different and what strategies could be employed so that existing faculties could rightly deal with, and meet the needs of, the postmodern student
