Abstract
Using the angular power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background measured over a wide range of ℓ in the first flight of the MAXIMA balloon-borne experiment (MAXIMA-1) and the low ℓ results from COBE/DMR, we set constraints on a suite of cosmological parameters within the framework of inflationary adiabatic models. Our results are consistent with the basic predictions of inflation: a flat universe with nearly scale-invariant primordial fluctuations. They are also consistent with large scale structure observations, and in marginal agreement with the baryon density from big bang nucleosynthesis.
