Abstract
This is the second of three papers describing a sample of 67 6C radio sources with flux densities in the range 2.2 Jy< S151< 4.4 Jy. For 42 of these sources searches for optical identifications have already been made by Allington-Smith et al. This paper describes the search for optical identifications for the remaining 25 sources. Four of these were identified on the Palomar Sky Survey, and CCD imaging observations, with a limiting magnitude of r ≍ 21.3, were made of 19 others, resulting in seven optical identifications. Forty-one (61 per cent) of the 67 sources now have optical identifications, of which 19 (28 per cent) are visible on the Sky Survey. Only eight of the 67 sources are associated with probable quasars, and it is inferred that most of the sources are associated with high-redshift galaxies.
