Trombley, Frank Richard 2013. Fiscal documents from the Muslim conquest of Egypt: military supplies and administrative dislocation, ca 639-644. Revue des Etudes Byzantines 71 , pp. 5-38. |
Abstract
A detailed analysis of the papyrus documents of the Arab conquest of Eqypt and its immediate aftermath as long been a desideratum. No attempt has yet been made to integrate the papyri into the chronology of these events and suggest what, if anything, they add to our knowledge of circumstances of the loss of Eqypt to Muslim conquest, an event that had profound trans-Mediterranean consequences.
