Abstract
The polarization status of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is still undetected. The BOOMERanG payload has been reconfigured as a scanning polarimeter, and its launch is planned for 2002. The same experimental approach has been selected for Planck-HFI and other experiments. Here we discuss some issues related to this methodology, such as the level of sensitivity required, the effects of instrumental cross-polarization and its measurement, and the best scan strategy.
