Abstract
The change in microwave properties of single crystal gallium during solid to liquid phase transformation (melting) is investigated by using the microwave cavity perturbation technique. Important aspects in gallium sample preparation are addressed to achieve a meaningful and repeatable measurement. From the experiment, the microwave loss parameter clearly showed notable change in behavior during the melting process.
