Abstract
This sound recording presents research about a historic set of sacred batá drums in the City of Matanzas, Cuba. Villepastour's research is detailed in the 32-page liner notes, publishing the little-known history of this drum ensemble. The recording documents a past style of three elderly drummers who had not played the drums since the 1950s, and the city's younger players who now play them regularly for Santería ceremonies.
