Abstract
This is a series of multiple choice questions to accompany the article "Competent novice: Intravenous fluid therapy in adult inpatients" from The BMJ. Learning outcomes After completing this module, you should: •Appreciate the risks associated with poor fluid management •Appreciate the clinically relevant aspects of fluid physiology under both normal and abnormal conditions •Understand the different properties of a number of commonly used intravenous fluids, and the situations in which to use them •Appreciate a safe approach to prescribing intravenous fluids for the purposes of both resuscitation and routine maintenance.
