Abstract
If 84% of the world's population identifies as religious, what opportunities and challenges might this present for geographical research related to social and ecological justice? This chapter highlights ways in which geographers have worked in collaboration with theology, religion, and ethics to think about postsecularity, where faith-motivated and secular individuals and groups contribute to progressive pro-justice ethics and practices. Drawing on ideas of ‘spiritual activism’, the authors reflect on how activism might help to expand our definition of spirituality, and how an engagement with spirituality might expand our understanding of what activism is.
