Abstract
In this chapter the author describes the immense strength, courage and wisdom that is developed over the course of completing a PhD as a Black person in the UK, and why it is so important that more Black people enter into the UK academy. Employing Critical Race Theory and Black feminist epistemology, the chapter illustrates an understanding of how the elite Whiteness of academic spaces can be disrupted for the better by more Black scholars. Finally, this chapter aims to counteract perceptions that being a Black academic cannot be a role of Black power and resistance.
