Abstract

From 2027, Wales, one of the four nations of the United Kingdom, will introduce a tourist tax for visitors. The announcement is historic: it is a contribution of about 1.30 pounds per night (0.75 for campsites and hostels), which will be applied by the municipalities of tourist areas. The most interesting news? The proceeds will be allocated not only to tourist infrastructure, but above all to initiatives to strengthen the Welsh language (Cymraeg), considered a fundamental identity heritage.
