Abstract
The study of animal and plant remains from archaeological sites constitutes a fundamental tool in order to understand the connection between past societies and their landscape, the management of biotic resources and, furthermore, to comprehend complex social issues such as humans perception of landscape and the importance of biotic materials in domestic and funerary practices. In this paper we carry out a review of the zooarchaeological, palinological and anthracological analyses developed in prehistoric Balearic Islands, with special emphasis on the most relevant aspects of this kind of studies and the futures perspectives.
