Abstract
This paper presents a novel means of extracting a fault class from instance histories for variants of a core product that may contain different attributes and values in different orders. This extracted fault class is then used to generate new rule sets for use in a fault diagnosis expert system. A solution based on the biological Immune System is proposed and developed, and is then tested upon several datasets. The algorithm outperforms other algorithms based upon the Immune System when querying such instance histories.
