Abstract
There is a large degree of discussion about demographic change in the 1990s - change which is already making an impact on the business sector and its ability to recruit effectively. This should lead, indeed may have already lead to, a radically new working pattern on an international scale. This collection of pan-European surveys study self-employment and its links with social change, analyzes the small firm and considers the role played by sub-contracting. The contributors investigate teleworking and its relevance. They examine both co-operatives in the Soviet Union and the life cycles of franchise organizations.
